Hi folks, Here again is your Roving Light Reporter bringing you the best of Winterfest here in the beautiful Winter Wonderland of the Smoky Mountains.

I find it difficult to express the beauty we see here in our home town of Sevier County - Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg - as we experience another Holiday Winterfest Season. There is just nothing like the down home festivities of the Christmas Season here in the mountains of Tennessee. If you have never experienced a country Christmas and can make the trip to our mountains, "come on down". If traveling to us is out of the question, we welcome you on your computer travels in Cyberspace as we bring you another "voyage to the light". We want to take this time to thank Carl Lakin for the pictures you are about to see.

 
 

 

Smoky Mountain Lights Report 2

On this excursion we will be concentrating on the magnificent display of lights in Pigeon Forge in the Patriot Park. As the name implies, Pigeon Forge has dedicated this incredible light display to our quest for freedom..."from Sea to Shining Sea".

Looming out of the darkness, in fantastic lighted splendor, is the great paddle boat... a token of the past. Remember when in history the paddle boats cruised our many rivers? The Tennesse River was the passage route of many of these unique "Queens" of the rivers. .



The bridge has caught my eye. I just can't help remembering my youth growing up in the San Francisco, California area. (Yes, some of us who live here in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains did not settle this area.) What a beautiful rendition of the majestic Golden Gate Bridge.


If you are portraying the South, the picture would not be complete without a Southern mansion. In a truly brilliant show of lights, stands a grand old relic of the South, the typical Southern mansion, with two weeping willow trees.



As I drive through the park area, I am impressed with the number of displays. The Freedon Bell, with its multitude of lights, stands out. It is large, brilliant, and a reminder of the theme of the park. How exciting it is to see all of these lights shining in contrast to the dark night. There is such a mystery to the Christmas Season, especially when there is such a lighted display.
