Gatlinburg offers family fun and excitement throughout the year with the annual Springfest, Harvest Fest, and Winterfest celebrations. Other major events include the 4th of July Celebrations and Smoky Mountain Traditions, a new event celebrating our mountain heritage. Enjoy shops, galleries, restaurants, attractions, entertainment, arts and crafts exhibits, and special events that showcase life in the Smoky Mountains.

Year Round Volksmarch
A stroll through a scenic, historic area over a pre-determined route. A non-competitive walk where the participants can travel at their own pace. For additional information call (865) 436-6000. Admission Fee.

January 2005

1 - 31: 15th Annual Winterfest
Four month city wide festival celebrates the magic of the season in Smoky Mountain style. Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville will "flip the switch" to light over 6 million sparking lights and patriotic displays, including eagles in flight, dancing snowflakes and other seasonal displays, that are the benchmark of the Winterfest celebration. Voted "Festival of the Year" three times by the Southeast Tourism Society, Winterfest offers something for the entire family!

1-30: Gatlinburg Winterfest Illumination and Decoration Contest
Local businesses get into the spirit of winter by decorating for the season and compete in different categories, turning Gatlinburg into a "Fantasy of Lights." For additional information call

1 - 29: Gatlinburg's Winterfest Trolley Tour of Lights
Trolley rides through Gatlinburg. Enjoy the fantastic light displays. Departs from traffic light #3 at the Visitors Center. Saturdays ONLY. Group Reservations are Available. Departure time is 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm. For additional information call (865) 436-3897. Admission Fee.

6: "Twelfth Day"
Fox and Parrot Tavern. Win the chance to be "king" for the day in celebration of this English holiday with cake. For more information please call (865) 436-0677.

31 - Feb 1: Special Olympics

23 - 26: Easter Arts and Craft Show
Gatlinburg Convention Center. Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community members assemble in downtown Gatlinburg to display the unique crafts and artwork for which they are nationally known. Live demonstrations.

21: 34th Annual Rib Fest

25 - May 1: Wildflower Pilgrimage Week
Enjoy the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by participating in the "55th Annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage". The Wildflower Pilgrimage offers over 150 different hiking tours, motorcades, demonstrations and classroom lectures centered on the flowers, plants and wildlife in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is led by experts from the Park and the University of Tennessee in nearby Knoxville. 20 - 22: Gatlinburg Highland Games
Mills Park. Highland athletic games, food vendors, Highland dancers, bag pipe bands, border collie demonstrations, entertainment, Scottish clans and whiskey tasting and much more. Visit their website at http://www.gsfg.org for more information.

20 - 22: Gatlinburg's Fine Arts Festival
Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. Enjoy a relaxing day along the river at the gorgeous Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies with an art exhibit with local & international artists. 3 - 4: 30th Annual 4th of July Midnight Parade
Downtown Gatlinburg. Enjoy lighted floats, marching bands, & giant helium balloons. Parade begins at 12:01 a.m. on the 4th of July, (which is one minute after midnight on July 3). If you would like to participate in this parade, please contact the Gatlinburg Special Events Department at (865) 436-0500.

4: 5th Annual River Raft Regatta
Christus Gardens. 12:00 noon. Starts at Christus Gardens bridge and finishes at the Aquarium bridge. Enjoy a fun, unmanned, floatable object race for the whole family. Unmanned, floatable objects are launched in the river and they compete for prizes. Arrive by 11:30 to enter and be eligible for prizes. River Road. 4: 4th of July Fireworks Show
Downtown Gatlinburg. Join us to celebrate our nation's "Independence Day" with a magnificent fireworks show. The City of Gatlinburg will light up their beautiful mountain skyline 1 hour after dark with this show. For more information please call (865) 436-0500.

22 - 31: Gatlinburg's Craftsmen Fair
Gatlinburg Convention Center. Featuring over 180 of the finest craftsmens work. Live country and bluegrass music. Hours are 10 am - 7 pm Mon. - Sat. Sundays 10 am - 5 pm. Admission Fee $5.00. 20 - Sept. 4: 4th Annual Gatlinburg Heritage on Display

16 - Oct. 31: Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival and Fall Decorating Contest
A county wide festival, which includes the cities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. Festival will include decorating contest, special events, local craft shows, and much more. For additional information call (865) 436-0500.

20 - Sept. 1 - Dec. 31: Old Fashioned Hayrides
Mountain Mall. Enjoy a hayride through downtown Gatlinburg. A great way to see the fall colors! Departs from traffic light #6 at the Mountain Mall. Rides leave every 45 minutes Sunday - Thursday 5 pm - 9 pm. NO rides December 24, 25 and 31. For additional information call (865) 436-3897. Admission Fee.

22: 8th Annual "Taste of Autumn"
Mills Auditorium. Sample Gatlinburg's finest restaurants and homemade desserts for a wonderful United Way of Sevier County Benefit Event.
